The implications of the Draft UNWTO Convention on the Protection of Tourists and the Rights and Obligations of Tourism Service Providers on the intermediaries facilitating the provision of standalone accommodation João de Almeida Vidal Faculdade de Economia da Universidade do Algarve (PORTUGAL) jvidal@ualg.pt ABSTRACT This paper aims to analyse the problems of responsibility arising from the new forms of contracting accommodation tourist services, namely the so-called sharing accommodation, bearing in mind the draft UNWTO Convention on the Protection of Tourists and the Rights and Obligations of Tourism Service Providers. Firstly, we will try to present the main characteristics of sharing accommodation and its implications in the field of civil liability regarding the relationship that is established between the intermediaries and the users of the collaborative tourism platforms. Secondly, and to expand the information scope of this work, we will try to apply to the Airbnb case the problems that are dealt with in an abstract way.
