Sustainable Tourism Law

680 SUSTAINABLE TOURISM LAW CONCLUSIONS Considering this change in demand, the demands of tourists have become evident for more active, more participatory tourismwith respect to environmental and socio-cultural interests, with high-quality services where conservation and protection of the environment are sought, by learning and preserving local cultures, thus complementing the enjoyment of vacations. We are faced with a new set of rules of supply and demand where, increasingly, tourism is analysed internationally and understood as an integral activity that cannot be separated from its interaction and effect on human beings, the environment, culture and the quality of life. This new trend has not only affected consumers, but investors are also carefully selecting companies or tourism projects in which to invest their money, trying to ensure that they correspond ecologically and socially to the interests of sustainable development. If we add to this that tourism is an industry determined by demand, we understand why these changes are having significant impact on tourism supply. For these reasons, it can be stated with certainty that: Twenty-first century tourism in Costa Rica will be sustainable or it will simply cease to exist!
