Tour guide – a natural person who provides travel information and accompanies tourists in the Republic of Lithuania and abroad (Article 28 of the Law on Tourism of the Republic of Lithuania). You can become a tour guide after attending the training courses and successfully completing the following learning subjects – tourism structure, organisation; travel organisation services management, psychology; basics of first aid, etc. A certificate confirming the acquired competence of a tour guide is issued and a person who has acquired the competence of a travel guide has the right to accompany people travelling both in Lithuania and abroad. The main requirements for a person wishing to become a tour guide must have at least a higher education, speak the state language, speak a foreign language and be able to work with a computer. Training to acquire the competence of a tour guide may be conducted by state-accredited legal entities.
