Boat Sweden is to a great deal surrounded by water, with the North Sea on the west coast and the Baltic Sea on the east coast. It is also possible to go there by air. 6.5. Car rental To rent out a car as an individual in Sweden is not regulated, as long as it is not considered as a business. If it is considered to be a business a permit is needed according to the Act on car rental 15 . The Swedish Transport Agency is the competent authority, which grants permits. The rental agency must ensure that a person renting the car has a driving license for the vehicle in question. In Sweden there is a wide range of car rental agencies. They range from small local companies to large international companies. In Sweden it is very common for gas stations to also provide car rental for shorter or longer periods. During the last years, car pools has, become increasingly more popular.
