As a result of its implementation, useful information may derive to assess the concrete effects of the new discipline on the rights of travellers and on the responsibility of professionals, organisers and retailers, including in terms of harmonizing the internal market and strengthening legal certainty for all those involved in the system. By 1 January 2021, in fact, the Commission is required to present to the European Parliament and the Council a general report on the application of Directive (EU) 2015/2302, if necessary accompanied by legislative proposals (pursuant to Article 26, par. 3). The objective pursued by the new European Union legislation remains unchanged; it not only seeks to apply the principle of maximum protection of the rights of travellers, yet also the need to guarantee professionals, organisers and retailers the capacity to operate in conditions of equal and effective competitiveness in exercising their respective economic activities.
