Collective Commentary about the New Package Travel Directive

42 COLLECTIVE COMMENTARY ABOUT THE NEW PACKAGE TRAVEL DIRECTIVE made – almost one year later – by Royal Decree-Law 23/2018, of 21 December, modifying the Royal Decree Legislative 1/2007, of 16 November, which approved the consolidated text of the General Law for the Defense of Consumers and Users. As Professor of Administrative Law, I have addressed the transposition of Directive 2006/123/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 12 December 2006, on the services of the internal market in several publications, and therefore I am aware of the difficulties and transcendence in national laws. Precisely, one of the sectors affected has been tourism, and the transposition of the Directive motivated the adjustment of all Spanish tourism regulations. The release of this work coincides with the 30 th Anniversary of the creation of tourism studies by the University of Salamanca, being the first Spanish University to give these studies a university character. I hope that this collaboration between institutions in Portugal, France, Italy and Spain will further strengthen our ties of friendship with the academic institutions of our neighbouring countries. The President of the Republic, Mr. François Mitterrand visited the University of Salamanca in 1987, the Portuguese President, Mr. Mario Soares was “Doctor Honoris Causa” by our University, and the current President of the Republic of Portugal, Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, has joined us last year, in the most important events of the VIII Centenary of our University.
