Recent Developments in Tourism Caused by the COVID-19 Crisis Statistics on the number of arrivals and overnight stays in the first three months of 2020, especially in March 2020, have confirmed the COVID-19 negative impact on tourism. According to the eVisitor data, in the first three months of 2020, 635,000 tourists visited Croatia and generated nearly 1.9 million overnight stays, which constitute decreases of 33% and 20% compared with the same period of 2019. There were 118,200 tourists in Croatia in March, 75% fewer compared with the same period of 2019. Of the 118,200 tourist arrivals in March, about 65,000 were foreign tourists, which constitutes a drop of 80.3% compared with March 2019 (Fig. 3). The number of overnight stays decreased by 53%, with 64.5% (nearly 280,000) fewer foreign overnight stays. Domestic overnight stays were lower by 24.2% (Fig. 4). 5 Ibidem .
