26 SUSTAINABLE TOURISM LAW Governments across the world continue to adopt new legislation in support of sustainable and competitive tourism, poverty alleviation through tourism, protection of biodiversity and cultural heritage, and community development. In tandem, lawmakers have increasingly come to see tourism as a priority sector to promote inclusive economic development and diversification, and create sustainable livelihoods. I trust that this book which expands the growing body of knowledge on sustainable tourism law in policy and practice, will contributes to making this rapidly-growing sector a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable growth and the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.
