The principles of Tourism Law as a basis for sustainable tourism 1 Ventura Enrique Mota Flores 2 Universidad del Caribe ABSTRACT This work aims at discussing the principles of Tourism Law as a basis for sustainable tourism. This study addresses knowledge of tourism from the law’s perspective, with an innovative focus. Thus, the various perspectives that the Mexican tourism legal regulation has undergone are analysed. In the development of the subject, studies aligned with Private Law, Public Law and Social Rights are examined, while also considering the difficulties that arose from the multiple perspectives involved when trying to understand tourism and law. This study is structured in six sections. The first and second parts cover the discussion of the concept of Tourism Law. The third focuses on the Public Law of Tourism. The fourth analyses Social Law. The fifth covers Social Tourism Law and the sixth part lays out the principles for discussion of Tourism Law as a basis for sustainable tourism. The last part presents the main conclusions. The foundation of this whole study lies in emblematic cases of tourism activity and its regulation in Mexico.
