Sustainable Tourism Law

538 SUSTAINABLE TOURISM LAW Socio-Economic: The tourism GDP is an indicator that is being elaborated in Argentina on the basis of the estimation made by the Tourism Satellite Account. The following indicators will be considered: Tourist Arrivals and Expenses: indicators of the tourism development with an impact on the generation of foreign currency, investment, employment and a sustainable balance of payments. Overnight stays at hotels and similar establishments of residents and non-residents: Indicator of the evolution of domestic tourism. Employment in hotels: Although it does not reflect the total impact of the activity on employment, it reflects the situation of a branch of tourism activity. Finally, it should be mentioned that the National Tourism Law establishes an essential framework for the main goal of PFETS. In addition, in the regulatory decree of this law, the update of the plan is scheduled with participatory processes similar to those employed on the first instance, this way ratifying the condition and process under the mode of monitoring and continuous assessment. This is why, apart from the PFETS 2006, there is a 2020 and 2025 update. VII. SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN PRACTICE The city of Buenos Aires is increasingly committed to environment protection, every day becoming a greener and more sustainable place. 9 For example, the following campaigns were conducted: 1. Recycling and Waste Separation: The city has developed a network of recycling zones operating across the city to encourage people to recycle increasingly more waste and understand environmental importance. 2. Ecological bicycles: The city offers more ecological ways of travelling to explore its roads, passages and avenues in a faster and safer way while causing less environmental impact. 3. Architecture: Architecture is one of the attractions of the city. Nowadays, city authorities encourage all modern buildings to follow global sustainability standards, including public buildings. This implicates the application of different strategies aimed at minimizing the environmental impact of construction sites in every stage of a building´s life cycle. 9 https://turismo.buenosaires.gob.ar/es/article/turismo-sustentable-por-excelencia.
