834 SUSTAINABLE TOURISM LAW associated with limited resources such as water, electricity, environmental capacity, waste absorption, etc. The “Sustainable Tourism Strategy for the Balearic Islands 2017-2020” document considers keeping up with economic growth by using resources efficiently, protecting the environment, controlling waste generation so that a balance between the economy and the geographic area can be achieved, whilst at the same time fostering other values in addition to sun and beach tourism, i.e. Balearic Islands cultural and heritage tourism. There is a great need to ensure that tourism development and quality of life of Balearic island residents continues to be compatible with the environment. The measure comprising fostering overall sustainability of the Balearic Islands as a tourism destination, reducing negative impacts deriving from tourism and enhancing positive impacts begs the question of how this can be put into practice. The second significant measure mentioned involves fostering only low season tourism, thereby rendering tourism use compatible with the conservation of natural resources. By promoting inland tourism through local production such as organising visits to wine cellars, gastronomic experiences, tasting of typical products; highlighting the role of agriculture; promoting typical artisan Balearic
