28 including the methodology of tour preparation and conducting, rhetoric, professional ethics, communication, psychology, Lithuanian culture, history and geography, legal regulation of guide activities, and those who have passed the practical guide examination after the guide training course. The guide training course and the passed practical examination of guided tours are valid for 2 years, during which a person must apply for a guide certificate to the State Consumer Rights Protection Service. A person wishing to obtain a guide certificate must submit the following documents to the State Consumer Rights Protection Service: a completed application in the prescribed form, a copy of the higher education diploma, a copy of the certificate of completion of the guide training course and a portrait photo for documents. It is also obligatory to pay a state fee in the amount of EUR 18 (information from the State Consumer Rights Protection Service of the Republic of Lithuania, 2021). Within 5 working days from the date of receipt of the documents submitted by the person to the State Consumer Rights Protection Service, a confirmation shall be sent to the person that the specified documents have been received, if necessary – about the necessity to correct the submitted information. Within 20 working days, after examining the person’s application, the submitted documents and assessing the person’s compliance with the requirements established in Article 28 (3) of the Law on Tourism of the Republic of Lithuania, the State Consumer Rights Protection Service may: to make a decision to issue a guide certificate, to submit the missing necessary documents or to make a motivated decision not to issue a guide certificate if the person does not comply with the requirements provided for in the Law on Tourism of the Republic of Lithuania (State Consumer Protection Service of the Republic of Lithuania, 2021).
