Sustainable Tourism Law

536 SUSTAINABLE TOURISM LAW Its aim is to strengthen the national business network, especially encouraging the Pymes and micro-businesses, as one of the main goals to pursue. This premise also includes private investments and makes sure of its commitment to local development. Tourism activity has become a global industry with a higher growth than other economic activities, becoming an engine of economic development. This way, tourism has a great impact on employment, since it generates numerous jobs (at airports, travel agencies, hotels, gastronomic and entertainment places), and it also strongly influences the GDP (money that comes to the country). In Argentina, some regions are more developed than others, making the allocation of resources unequal and defective. In order to get this issue in order, some attempts were made, but they did not fulfil expectations. It is for this reason that the new model of planned priority areas established in the country for tourism development, in order to extend some zones where the activity is still emergent, promoting the gradual diversification of the offer, on the basis of the priority components of tourism spaces. The achievements of Tourism policies and the launch of this planning process were made by regional workshops, where the development of supply, public and private investments, the management of quality, promotion and marketing were prioritized. These workshops led to a current view of the situation of the sector in Argentina, defining a set of strategies and identifying programmes and projects for each region. The Argentine Republic is divided into 6 tourist regions according to the PFETS of 2005, temporarily until 2016, subsequently maintained in the update to cover the period up to 2020, and in the following update to 2025.
