Romania’s wine-growing surface is divided into eight viticulture regions , areas for the cultivation of vines, with boundaries established by legislation. In these areas, it is allowed to set up vineyards from which wines nominated by a DOC or designated by an IG will be obtained. Only within these areas, precisely and unequivocally delimited by clearly established limits at commune/village level, it is allowed to obtain and produce such wines, of course respecting the other conditions set out in the specifications for the production of wines with such DOC and IG indications. A complete list of DOC for wines, sparkling wines and semi-sparkling wines, a complete list of IG for wines and aromatised wines and a list of traditional wine mentions – these lists regarding products allowed for use in Romania – are established by Order of the Minister of Agriculture no. 732/2005, modified by Order no. 247/2012. The eight wine regions are the Transylvanian Plateau ( Regiunea viticolă a Podişului Transilvaniei ), the Moldavian Hills ( Regiunea viticolă a Dealurilor Moldovei ),
