O THER CLASSIFICATIONS Lastly, it is worth mentioning other classifications wine may have, namely the grapes’ ripening stage , the wine’s colour and its age . Regarding colour, as already mentioned, wines can be white, red or rosé. In what concerns the grapes’ ripening stage and their qualitative characteristics at harvesting, the wines with DOC may bear the following traditional terms: CMD 24 (wine obtained from grapes harvested at full maturity), CT 25 (wine obtained from late-harvested grapes) or CIB 26 (wine obtained after a harvest when the grape beans are ennobled). Finally, after their age , wines can receive the following traditional mentions, admitted for use in Romania, according to the Order of the Minister of Agriculture no. 732/2005: (i) Reserve – a wine with a controlled designation of origin (DOC) aged in barrels for at least 6 months and in glass for at least 6 months; (ii) Vinotheque wine – a wine with a controlled designation of origin (DOC) aged in bottle for at least 4 years, with a bouquet formed in a bottle during ageing and which is marketed as long as it retains the qualities conferred by this traditional mention; or (iii) Young wine – a wine placed on the market before the end of the year in which it was produced. IV.3. Protection by Controlled Designation of Origin and Geographical Indication At the European Union level, there are protection mechanisms for Designation of Origin or a Geographical Indication, regulated by articles 95-107 of EU Regulation No 1308/2013. The application for a DOC or IG protection may be made by a group of interested producers or, in exceptional and duly justified cases, by an individual producer. According to these provisions, the first stage of the protection procedure is carried out at a national level. In Romania, the competence in this matter belongs to ONVPV, as established by Order of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development no. 266/2017, which also regulates: 24 Cules la maturitate deplină . 25 Cules târziu . 26 Cules la înnobilarea boabelor .
