The dynamic evolution of the organic sector, some very sensitive issues related to the organic production method, and the need to ensure the proper functioning of the internal market and a control system recommend that a future review of the Community provisions on organic farming be foreseen, taking into account the experience acquired with the application of these standards. The Regulation provides the basis for the sustainable development of organic production methods, while ensuring the efficient functioning of the internal market, ensuring fair competition, protection of consumer interests and consumer confidence. The standard establishes common objectives and principles to support the standards it establishes, referring to all stages of production, preparation and distribution of organic products and their controls, as well as the use of indications on labeling and advertising that refer to the ecological production. Title III, Chapter 4, of the Regulation established the basic requirements relating to the organic production of processed food and the provisions for applying such requirements were established by Commission Regulation (EC) No 889/2008, of 5 September 15 , establishing provisions for the application of Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 , with respect to organic production, its labelling and its control. Regulation 889/2008 was applied as of 1 January 2009, however, section 2, letter a), of article 27 16 and article 58 17 were applied from 1 July 1 2010. The specific provisions for the production of organic wine are established in the aforementioned Regulation and must apply to the products of the wine sector referred to in the Council Regulation (EC) No 1234/2007 of 22 October 2007 18 which establishes a common organisation of agricultural markets and on specific provisions for certain agricultural products (Single CMO Regulation).
