In 2017 the number of wine tourists grew to more than one million six hundred thousand 20 of which 74% responds to visitors from the Central-Western area (Mendoza, San Juan, and Neuquén), 17% to Northern Provinces (Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, La Rioja and Catamarca) and 9% to the new wine growing region (Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos, Córdoba, Río Negro and Chubut). Today, there are nearly three hundred vineyards open for visitors, with 165 located in the central-western area, 44 in the north-western area and 36 in the new region. Mendoza has more than 145 wineries opened to tourism. The services available at wineries opened for tourists include winery tours, vineyards’ walks, wine shops and wine bars, wellness experiences, Wellness experiences, culinary, harvesting and pruning activities, art 21 and music events, wineries turned into museums, lodging services 22 , cookery classes, food and wine tastings, and golf, polo 23 , trekking, horseback rides, cricket and pato competitions 24 , etc. 25 . It was born “Events´ Tourism” in wineries and the LGTBQ+ events with boutique travel agencies specialised in wine tourism. Within this context, wine tourism in Argentina means more than one thousand three hundred of permanent jobs, which increases in a 50% with seasonal jobs. 78% are women in the stable staff and 11% of all employees in the wineries opened for tourists belong to this area. This is a youthful industry, as more that 50% opened to tourists in the last 15 years. As for the economic indices, it can be estimated that the tourists’ average spending in the winery is thirty dollars a day and almost a hundred dollars in lodging. In the meanwhile, the tourism income of the establishments represents about 26% of their 20 If we consider enotourists’ origin, 39% are from Buenos Aires, followed by Cordoba (18%) and CABA (15%).
